Shall I fly to Bajo or take a liveaboard that departs from Bali? Decisions Decisions…
I sit here trying to decide the best option for my upcoming dive trip to Komodo. It is a remote place, which is about 250 miles from the international airport on Bali. I have two options: fly out to the island of Flores and join a liveaboard in Bajo, then fly back to Bali when the trip is over, or take a liveaboard which leaves from Bali and brings me back to Bali.
Komodo National Park is situated between Sumbawa and Flores Islands, and is part of the Lesser Sunda Islands. The Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991 and comprises an area of more than 1,700 square kilometers – a huge area encompassing the main Islands Rinca, Padar and Komodo itself. More than a hundred smaller islands and islets are within this area, making it a beautiful spot for cruising around.
This trip we welcomed Paola & Roberto from Italy, and Stephanie, Christian, Iris, Karl-Heinz, Christiane and Joe from Germany. Some in the group were returning guests, they were happy to see familiar faces among the crew and were very excited to hit the diving in Komodo they so fondly remember!
