| The black volcanic sand of Sangeang Island offers a dramatic backdrop for
a wide variety of 'critters'. Pygmy seahorses, angler fish, and a huge
varity of nudibranches are only some of the species that live in these
waters. It is a macro-photographers dream come true! |

| Denpasar, Bali |
| Upon arrival into Bali, we recommend that you take the time to unwind for a
day or two,
just to relax from the long flight, and adjust to the change in
temperature. We can recommend a beach side hotel where you can relax beside
the pool or under the shade of a tree on the beach. There is much to see
and we can arrange a day trip into the interior of the Island once you get
rested. |

| Benoa Harbor,
Bali |
| Benoa Harbor is a bustling place, with a touch of
everything...fishing boats, day trip boats, local ferries...lots of
activity. It is here that you will get your first glimpse of our beautiful
sailing vessel, Adelaar. You are welcomed aboard by the
captain and crew and then it is "anchors away" as we
begin our voyage eastward through the islands in and around the Komodo National
Park. |

Loh Buaya/Komodo |
No trip is complete without a visit
to Loh Buaya, the ranger station on Komodo, a World Heritage site. We set out early, on a nature walk to explore one
of the two reserved habitats of the world’s largest lizard - the Komodo
Dragon. Weighing up to 350 pounds and with a total length of over 10
feet, these fearsome hunters charge swiftly to bring down their prey
which includes Barking Deer, Feral Pigs, Water Buffalo, and even wild horses.
Their saliva is extremely poisonous; if their bite does not bring an
animal down immediately, the prey will later succumb from infection. The
park is located in the region known as Wallacia, denoting the overlapping
of Australian and Asian bio-geographical areas. This overlapping ensures
an interesting mix of bird species. |

| Educational
Dive trips |
| "Adelaar" strives
to bring together, well-known oceanographic biologists and
underwater photographers with dive enthusiasts, to jointly explore the
fascinating waters of the Komodo archipelago and other areas of the Nusa
Tenggara. These expeditions will be guided by Ben L. Pfeifer, M.D., Ph.D.
and/or other scientists, who are working on a program that looks at
various ocean life forms as sources for new medicines.
You are invited to participate in these special educational dive trips. |
